probably because he really does think we're that damn dumb and that easily manipulated. He talks a good game about wage inequality but what's he done in the last 2 terms? Restaurant jobs and not much else. He's scared away businesses by keeping taxes higher than other places like Nashville. Most People need real jobs not waiting tables.
