There are a lot of reasons people won't even apply here. Pay is part of it, along with no pension for new officers, reduced medical, Louisville now being a crime-ridden city, the administration being hug-a-thug and pervasive corruption at the top. They never stop stepping in a totally new pile of sh-t. Its a dangerous and thankless job at an unprofessional department where you get in trouble if you do the right thing and the public keeps on voting in the same idiots. If your camera isn't working perfectly and doesn't have a full view of whatever happened, you're labeled a liar. The SID commander and Chief may even have a moment of silence at the press conference for the thug who tried to kill you. Meanwhile, some house mouse pedo-guy with friends in command is protected and shielded from prosecution. Same with the Miami serial rapist, because command won't admit they screwed up ignoring his sketchy background to meet a minority hiring quota.

I wouldn't want to come here either. What used to be the best city to police is is now one of the worst in America. That's why young people consider this a bottom-rung department and will take other offers first.
