The Mayor's office has proven too corrupt and inept to oversee the police department. We need someone elected for the sole purpose of running public safety, including police, corrections, and fire/EMS. The easiest way to make that happen is for the metro council to move all authority for LMPD to the still-operational but duty-less Jefferson County Fiscal Court. The public could elect the County Judge and 3 commissioners to appoint the Chief. The people in those offices now probably aren't the ones to do it but we could hold a special election to pick more serious candidates. It would only take an ordinance transferring control.
