Metro Council president accused of colluding in lawsuit against the city

Deep down the people with knowledge of the case know who's probably lying. Many simply don't care if a politician on their side of the political spectrum lies. They assume everyone's lying and it's part of the battle for power. You smear theirs, they smear yours and the one who succeeds at being smeared less than the other side usually wins. The TV provided plenty of recent examples. Democrat prosecutors let Hillary walk for dozens of felonies, but charge a retired general with not telling the truth about something that wasn't even illegal.

What we are witnessing is the combined corrosive effects of many years of corruption on the public's belief in our system of government at all levels.
