LMPD officers shoot and kill man in Southside neighborhood

That was part of the farce. The Mayor could have appointed him as a temporary peace officer like the security guards. He wouldn't even need to pass any training to work in an unarmed capacity for a few months. That alone would have made him legal to interview officers as a city investigator. He could have given the 48 hour notice and possibly had them fired by the Mayor if they refused to talk.

The only legit excuse for some of this half-baked case was the feds telling them to back off on certain people. What they should do is say they'll re-open and complete his investigation once they give the go-ahead. There's no reason to simply say they'll close the books on an administrative internal case when there are many testimonies that will be offered in the next few years.
