LMPD shoots robbery suspect in the Portland neighborhood

They're taking applications for recruits but not laterals. They were probably embarrassed when almost no laterals even applied the last time they tried to hire them.

LPD and JCPD used to insist laterals were never trained as well as they were and required the "big city" academies. It was a falsehood but that attitude has stuck ever since. There are people here who honestly think they're better trained than everyone else in Kentucky. It must be all the community relations and other social justice warrior training classes that makes them better.

I'd take any lateral with a good record and 2 or 3 years on the street over a recruit any day, especially from a department that still polices.
