Female LMPD officer claims police, city ignored sexual harassment |
RE: Female LMPD officer claims police, city ignored sexual harassment...
They could easily cut dues in half by forming a local union or better yet, hire a professional lawyer to represent the lodge to the city who's not afraid of the career limiting effects of handling labor disputes with highly vindictive command staff. The FOP President doesn't necessarily have to take on that role like they've done. It could be done by an outside General Counsel made a Vice President.
Half of dues paid leave the Louisville lodge and are used elsewhere. Most of the rest is for the legal defense fund, which is the only real benefit anyone gets from the dues except for some attorney hours for contract negotiation.

You should stop using the word "should".

The national and state FOP are worthless. They have been powerless to stop retirement cuts or get anyone a raise. They collect much more than any officer gets from them for legal services. It's a good ole boy network for people who like to take free out of town trips to get severely intoxicated while having a meeting on the side.

FOP also protects guilty officers and the dangerously incompetent. They shielded the pedogate witnesses from the outside investigator and made themselves look like the members are closing ranks to protect pedophiles.
