I'mma let you finish with the sexual harassment story, but Shadle's 15 minutes of fame must take a pause. Six Compassionate City residents got shot in 2 shootings in 1 hour.

Hold up the ice cream, coffee and cookies celebrations for crime going down. The urban services district, the old City of Louisville, is among top 5 most deadly cities in the USA. Nobody reports or even mentions that in public. It's one of Metro's many dark open secrets.

The problem is that LT has been accused by several other women and those that like to explore. Him and Betts still keep in contact. They should have acted on this a long time ago.

LMPD evicts homeless camp with false promises of space available at a shelter. If only that Lt in the 1st had texted a picture of that man's foot to the Mayor instead.

"Peeler was told by police and homeless outreach representatives last Friday that he was going to receive transitional housing through St. John Center for Homeless Men. But after the cleanup of his camp ended, he learned he would have to hit the streets the next day. "They lied, they lied," he said Tuesday, adding that he spent the weekend in the hotel with the help of a sympathetic resident who had read his story in Courier Journal.

Christen "Tiny" Herron, a case manager at St. John, said there was a miscommunication with Peeler and police about the shelter's overnight accommodations, but other arrangements are being made to ensure he has a place to stay. "I would not have let that happen," she said of having Peeler end up back on the streets."

Mother of girl in LMPD youth program says she was 'encouraged' to keep quiet about sexual harassment allegations

The mother claims she and her husband were "encouraged" by the "head of the Explorer program" not to speak with anyone else about her concerns, records show. "[H]e wanted to keep it under the radar," according to the records, released in the criminal investigation of Betts and former Officer Brandon Wood. There was no investigation into the male teenager's allegations, and Betts avoided any discipline by leaving the department in April 2014. Police Chief Steve Conrad closed that case "by exception" when Betts resigned, saying "no further action need be taken." In addition, police officials are accused of concealing evidence of the conduct by intimidation, destruction of evidence, deletion of information and refusal to comply with the Kentucky Open Records Act, as well as conspiracy to cover up the wrongdoing, according to the suit. Police are also accused of falsifying reports, deleting phone records and audio files and destroying other records.

Once again the commonwealth attorney's office proves they're not quite up to the job of getting the worst murderers the death penalty. It's obviously not just something unique to Ricky Kelly's case. They should publicly admit they will never do a death row case because of their political views and stop pretending it's about a lack of evidence. If you can't send a man to death row who drove around looking for someone to murder, then you shouldn't be a prosecutor. It's also a shame how the department has to beg the federal government to prosecute serious criminals, because our courts are too weak to put anyone away for more than 5 years before they're out on parole.

Good Job Council President Yates

December 16th, 2017 @ 11:22AM (7 years ago)

Council President, who was responsible for vetting Vitalis Lanshima before he was voted in as District 21 councilman? In your hurry to be the first politically correct council of the city to vote in a handicapped immigrant, you may have selected someone who may not be qualified and should not be there. Since Mr. Lanshima will not speak about why he was dismissed as a special education teacher with JCPS and is currently entangled in a lawsuit, I guess we as tax payers of the south end may never find out why he was dismissed. Who cares as long as Vitalis Lanshima paints a feel good story for Louisville as a sanctuary city. Thanks for nothing.

For those who still think LMPD is only losing officers because of pension changes. People would rather work for a good department than a bad one. It's that simple.

"Of the six officers sworn in on Dec. 13, three previously worked for the Louisville Metro Police Department."

5 shootings in the last 6 hours. Over 380 shootings in 2018.

It's a very good thing that merger tossed the unincorporated county into the old city's crime numbers. The citizens have no idea the urban services district is ranked right below Detroit for homicides now. The reporters are too busy running puff pieces about the Mayor's compassion for the homeless, right after he reversed his order to kick them out of their camps due to the heat that drew.

Training not teaching officers how to ram or pick vehicles is irresponsible, if not incompetent. Everyone is lucky nobody got killed today.

Governor, it would be a joke if it was only $1.5 million. The total overtime in 2017 is over $9.4 million. The top 100 overtime earners got 1/3 of that and the top 200 made about half of it.

Nobody is talking about where those people work and what they claim they accomplished during those hours.

"When the city sets aside one and a half million dollars for extra crime fighting and half of it's gone in the first six weeks of the year, and it goes to a handful of people who are working full time plus 120 hours of overtime, some of them with extra jobs, don't tell me the system's not broken," Bevin said. "It's a joke."

So it's better to let thugs shoot, steal, and run from police than to catch them. When the thugs realize that they will be chased and held accountable they may stop running from police. Liberal thinking is not working. I say drop the hammer on the thugs.

"When Andre Morris allegedly fired his gun through a window, forcing his way into Tracy Browning's house, she looked at his face and had never seen it so angry. Morris shot Browning in the head, spewing blood her son would later clean up. She survived. Now Morris is on house arrest" https://wfpl.org/metro-council-to-hear-report-on-violent-crime-survivors-woes/

If this article weren't talking about Louisville courts, I wouldn't believe it. Only here do you have judges who are so reeking in blasé east end liberal indifference as to put dangerous criminals, including killers, on home incarceration. If they were living next door to the judges, I'm sure they'd all be sitting in jail right now instead of on H.I.P. while awaiting trial.

They must not care that at least half of the murders, rapes and armed robberies in Louisville are committed by people who would have been sitting in prison had the judges done their jobs at least as competently as judges in Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, and Bullitt counties after the suspect's previous arrest.

No city money to buy or loan money for good security cameras or bullet resistant glass for stores.

Lots of people predicted in 2003 that LMPD would decrease coverage in the suburbs and crime would go up there. A few naive ones didn't. It's amazing that's city of 700,000 has no division street detectives, no street crimes unit and no gang unit. That's just sheer incompetence and a lack of relevant experience in command. You can't temporary detail your way out of this problem.

"those declines aren't occurring in all parts of the city. Personnel robberies, for instance, are up more than 20 percent in the LMPD patrol areas east of Interstate 65 and south of the Watterson Expressway; and in Fern Creek, Highview and Okolona. And violent offenses have increased in LMPD's 2nd Division in western Louisville and in eastern Jefferson County's 8th Division"

"Kentucky State Police: 'Junk' cars and outdated equipment are putting our troopers in danger

As a trooper recently rushed to help another trooper who had been stabbed, his cruiser's transmission fell onto the interstate with a thud. Desperate, he ditched the car -- which had accumulated nearly 200,000 miles -- and began to run until someone picked him up."

"He was trying to get to that trooper to help save his life," Sanders told lawmakers https://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/crime/2017/12/30/kentucky-state-police-junk-cars-budget-cuts/897551001/

Well, another fine Example of corruption at its finest. Everyone knows Yates would have had to stay out of any city discussions regarding settlements with that explorer case. Plus, it never would have made it to the point where metro council would be deciding anyway. Bottom line Oconnel got Burkman who owes him to side with him because he doesn't want Yates telling what he knows about Oconnel's knowledge and inaction of the explorer case. Then our dubious Mayor only gets involved by suspending the program a day after the courier reports on a lawsuit. But the Mayor says only knows what he read in the news. This stinks to high heaven. Where is that special investigator report.

$750 per day on top of his retirement isn't too bad. If he makes that much off a "dubious claim" then I can't wait to see how much the female Lt, Harper, and the Explorer victims make. The city will have to auction off city hall and some of the Metro parks to pay for the lawsuits and the mortgages on the Yum Center and Papa Johns when U of L defaults.

Obviously the First 48 exaggerated the homicide's unit's abilities to clear a murder case quickly in order to get people to watch the show. There is a big difference between TV characters and real policing. Homicide may be able to solve a few cases Horatio Cane CSI style. Most will go unsolved because LMPD has very poor intelligence about what's happening on the street. The department lacks essential skillsets and proactive units because people in command here have no idea what they're doing. They should have taken jobs at little bedroom community police departments in a lily white suburb. You can't shotspot your way out of this problem.

"The LMPD investigation into Nicolas' death, which is ongoing, has not produced any arrests or suspects -- leaving his close-knit family waiting for answers and justice. Ten months later, they're beginning to wonder if it will ever come.

"Nobody deserves their child or their parent to be taken from them. Nobody does. Everybody deserves the right to justice," Thomas Harris said. "That's the problem: everybody's not getting it. Everybody's not getting it. It's just plain and simple."

Every time Tiffanie Thomas Harris hears about a shooting in the city, she does a roll call of her children. If they're outside of Louisville, she worries less. If they're in town, they get called. It's eight phone calls, eight checks that a child is OK, is unharmed, is safe. "If they're in the city," she said, "anything could happen."

Rest in peace Chief Richard Dotson, the best police chief this city ever had. He stood up to our previous corrupt Mayor, who used the usual liberal slander campaign tactics to inject his politics into this department.

When Dotson was chief the homicide rate was 1/3 what it is today. The activists all hated him because he was the antithesis of their hugathug felon-loving mindset.

Chief Dotson's leadership style is sorely missed by the decent law abiding people of this city, although not the drug dealers, killers, pedophiles, or their liberal allies.

Fischer and his typical b.s. And pull the wool over people's eyes. Does he really think anyone but a few of his moronic minions will believe he is even remotely responsible for the YMCA or passport moving to west Louisville. People need to get a clue. He is the same guy that did nothing and let's not forget approved over a million dollars that he gave away for the Phillip Morris site after the city for that spot for free and had to buy back for over a million as well. Gave a million away to people that said they were going to develop it for a walmart, and gave them the property too. All at taxpayer expense and he did nothing to try and get the project done. Why? Because he could give a damn about west Louisville. So it cost us the taxpayer over 2 million and now he wants to lay claim to YMCA and passport. What a joke. He wants to lay claim to do many economic deals he had zip to do with. But....won t lay claim to his failed leadership, his failed police chief and turning louisvill e into one of the most violent cities in the country. Won t lay claim to his backroom deals where taxpayers are paying for leased city buildings from his friends. And other buildings where city workers walk in to crumbling walls and mold or a police headquarters that is a travesty. Yet tried to flim flam taxpayers into leading another headquarters from his pals. Not his numerous cabinet positions on the taxpayer dime regarding do squat. This guy is a true joke, hopefully the good people in the West end realize he doesn't care unless it comes near him in the highlands. Hopefully people all over Louisville realize another four years of his leadership and leadership choices will destroy this city for good. Time for a change from the top to the bottom. People that vote for him will be either ignorant of his ineptness, don't care or are on his dime with the taxpayer money already.
