The Courier Journalist says Shelby Park residents are not fooled and not happy. They are afraid of being shot by the gangs there. The E Block Bloods and Victory Park Crips were reported to be battling, according to the Leo last summer.

CJ: "People who live close to the vacant home in Shelby Park where the body was found said earlier this week they were fed up with the state of violence in Louisville. One woman who works at a business in the area said she is afraid to walk outside because of the increasing violence in her neighborhood. She, as well as others in the neighborhood, said they didn't want to be identified because they are afraid of violent retaliation for speaking out."

Leo: "A large portion of recent homicides were part of a feud between Victory Park Crips and the E-Block, a Bloods gang in Shelby Park and Smoketown. According to the article, the violence started this last summer when 23-year-old Jordan New was shot and killed in Shelby Park. The next day, three people were killed when someone in a car fired on a group standing on the corner of Clay and Jacob streets. The retaliation continues to this day."
