There's a possibility he'll lose. He hasn't really done that much for the west end compared to what he promised. The jobs he promised never materialized. They're gambling that this sports complex will create enough of a buzz to get the loyal masses to the polls. A sports complex isn't going to bring in any jobs and almost everyone knows it.
If he'd run this year he might have won, but next year will be very bad timing for the whole Explorer situation. The facts will be in public by next November. That won't be enough to convince Democrats to vote Republican but it's not going to motivate people to show up to vote for him. He'll have the same no-show problem Hillary had. Moderate Republican women have a history of winning county-wide elections, including Congressman and County-Judge Executive.
