21-hour days and $320,000 of overtime highlight 'shocking' extra...

No officer should be working more than 6 days in a week or 12 hours in a day except in a dire emergency like a natural disaster. Everything else is just poor management.

LMPD needs 1500 officers but nobody will admit that because it will require cuts to the Mayor's frivolous handouts for the soccer team, hotel chains and numerous others.

Quit being unrealistic about the acceptable citizen-to-officer ratio with bulls--t excuses about bogus statistics being more important in deciding staffing levels. Let the Mayor make up his own lies for the council.

paybacks!

We have been wondering how & why the Lt.Hoover was always giving them unlimited OT... Geesh thanks now every citizen thinks we beat cops make over $100,000 and perfect timing during this pension crisis.

Seems our command staff taught them how to be scammers. Look at most of the Sgt's trying to cram studying in to make Lt.'s pay $70,000. We have so many chiefs and few Indians.

The department's paying Majors and their house mouse posses to hang out drinking coffee or handing out cookies while pretending its work every week. They're paying administrative secretaries disguised as Lt Cols to simply hand the Chief's instructions to the Majors and report what the Majors say to the Chief. They're paying the chief to wreck the department with his admin bureau Major's mentality.

Unless they were lying about hours they never worked, you can't fault people for taking all the O.T. they can get. Command decides what units to give O.T. to. Don't pretend nobody but their Sgt or Lt knew who was doing what. WE all know every O.T. decision at LMPD is micromanaged from far above.

The news reports about recent crimes are so lacking in info it's comical. Reporters used to have people monitoring police radio traffic 24-7, went to the hospitals and got Detectives to tell them actual facts. Now PIO makes sure they get nothing but the location and they go put on more hairspray.

They're not the only ones though. Detectives used to canvas neighborhoods, get a suspect description and put out a BOLO on them with the TV station. Not anymore. If the citizens actually give them anything, putting out a description may violate the unknown suspect's civil rights or have racial overtones.

It's fake news meets fake policing.

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Police responded to a stabbing in the Shawnee neighborhood Monday night. The stabbing was reported just after 11 p.m. in the 600 block of Cecil Avenue, according to MetroSafe. That's just a few blocks east of Shawnee Park, near River Park Drive and 41st Street. Emergency crews rushed the victim to University Hospital. It is not clear how badly he was hurt. No arrests have been made.

Louisville has gone from being one of the safest cities to #11 most dangerous. You've come a long way baby. The officers of past generations are rolling over in their graves or rolling their eyes at the crime ridden trainwreck that Louisville has become in the era of hug-a-thug judges and do-nothing police. It's about time to put aside the greed driven, lazy ROD mentality, the gay police cars, the cookies and ice cream and coffee with a cop, the empty rhetoric on TV, and the faked crime stats and DO YOUR JOB. If you won't, then hit the bricks, beat it and good luck at the grocery store. There are at least another 1200 people willing to take your place.

There is only one way to solve Louisville's downward spiral to oblivion. That is going to the polls and voting the whole mess out from top to bottom. But you and I know that will never happen because the bottom feeders and the handouters in the west end along with the blind in the east end like what they see and will continue voting these fools in office. This city will soon be a Detroit where half the population will not venture past I65. Most of the eastend won't venture past the Mall in St. Matthews now. All I can say is get your CCDW and pack it like your wallet or purse because the police in this city can't keep you from getting mugged or your a*s shot off and the mayor, judges and chief could care less as long as their checks don't bounce. The police have their hands tied by this administration and we all know hug a thug doesn't work.

If Harper is a "disaster" then Conrad is a 4-horseman style apocalypse, complete with angels blowing horns, beasts from the sea and a maniacal anti-Christ. The man must have a unique ability to overlook the faults of himself and his handpicked buttboys and buttgirls. Never mind how he and his staff mishandled thousands of rape kits, or his whistle blower retaliation cost Metro $600,000 a few years ago, or how his sheer incompetence and mishandling of gangs and drug crime has driven the murder rate up 250%, or his Explorer cover-up, or his allowing a few favorites to waste and possibly steal overtime without him ordering an investigation.

The man reminds me of a tin-pot dictator completely disconnected from reality.

We can only hope the people of Louisville aren't stupid enough to re-elect Greg Fischer. If they do, then I suppose they truly deserve a dysfunctional and corrupt city with 120 murders per year.

Lock and load, east-enders. The thugs have learned how to drive cars to your part of town.

We can't arrest our way out of this problem, so law abiding citizens are now forced to shoot their way out of it. Homicide has no suspect or vehicle description for the public or officers as usual.

Its strange that the media is only talking about what happened with overtime last winter and singling out a few people instead of looking at the big picture.

The Metro open data portal says there was $2.5 million in overtime pay in July, August and September. That would be $10 million by the end of the 2018 budget year at that pace, which would be $3 million more than what the department spent in the last budget year. That's a 40% increase over last year.

THREE THINGS THAT WOULD IMPROVE LMPD/MORAL

November 26th, 2017 @ 3:31PM (7 years ago)

List 3 things that would improve LMPD/ moral.

1- Speed up/improve booking at the jail to get officers back to the street. Two hour waits are redicluos. One person booked at a time for 50 years is ABSURD and officers feel the city/lmpd/jail is deterring officers from arrest.

2-Take home cars after probation. I virtually NEVER see a police car in the 11th most dangerous city in America.

3-Stop making officers/sgts do a report for everyyyyyyy damn thing. No more injured priors, no more stops forms, blue forms are out of control, DV lethality forms, forms forms forms forms forms....

The Courier-Journal used an old picture of Flaherty for their story about the Fern Creek threat. They also quoted the principal who said the Real Time Crime Center is who's investigating. They and the principal must not know RTCC is just civilians who watch cameras and read social media. Great job, PIO.

To go along with all the crip and blood gangsta kids, here's another prime example of the kind of psychopath children being spawned by bad parenting, our Godless public schools and their leftist indoctrination. Oh sure, let's pull all the police out.

http://www.wdrb.com/story/36927841/i-did-it-to-kill-people-10-year-old-louisville-girl-crashes-truck-into-home

"(The officer) couldn't believe what she said. He was like 'excuse me?' and she said, 'I wanted to kill people,' and he said 'I'm sorry, what did you say?' and she said, 'I wanted to kill people," Pate said. "All we want is an apology from the family, pretty much. We haven't heard from them and haven't heard from anybody," he said.

The Courier-Journal had some not-so-complimentary things to say last week about Mayor Fischer.

"From political gaffes to goofy ideas, here are Kentucky's biggest turkeys

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer gets on our list of day-old poultry because of his refusal to say something. About anything. He's said little about sexual harassment allegations against former Metro Council member Dan Johnson, alleged sexual abuse of teens in the police department's Youth Explorer Program, the city's murder rate and the performance of Police Chief Steve Conrad -- among many issues. Fischer should get the hint that people want their leaders to take stands on things and not always avoid messy situations."

The situation for U of L appears to be getting ugly. Who's going to make the bond payments for Papa Johns and the Yum Center if they have to cut ties with the NCAA?

Like my financial counselor always says, pile up as much debt as possible and leave it behind when you die. At least they can't auction off our bike lanes.

It really blows my mind why people apply to LMPD...in comparable cities...Pay is better, true gang units, true Intel units, real traffic units with 50 plus officers, radios in police cars, not paying $800 a month in health insurance, 20 year retirement, real air unit with 3-5 helicopters not 1 older one. SO MUCH MORE..... Louisville does seem to have a couple more divisions than most cities our size. I personally think u eliminate the 1st Division like years ago and have the 2nd division pick up 9th street west and the 4th divison 9th street east (keep DAP). That would give the 2nd and 4th div an additional 40 officers each and maybe officers could get a vac day. Not counting Louisville could use 300 more officers

LOUISVILLE,Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say witnesses took matters into their own hands when a man in a ski mask tried to rob an area ValuMarket. According to an arrest report, the incident occurred on Friday, Nov. 24, at the grocery store on Mitscher Avenue, near the intersection of S. 3rd Street and W. Southland Boulevard. Police say 41-year-old Yuley Gomez walked into the ValuMarket, put a ski mask on his face, then pointed a handgun at store employees and demanded business cash. Police say two of the victims -- one of whom was a store employee -- disarmed him and held him until police arrived. When confronted about the incident Gomez admitted to the crime, according to the arrest report. He was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery. Gomez is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections.

David James, Anglea Leet, ANYONE IN THE MEDIA... From the old jail to the new jail. 1 person is booked in at a time.. Daily there are 10-25 prisoners on the wall waiting to be book. Something has to change, there is no reason to lock people up and take officers off the streets for 2 hrs.. Oldham County just built a 23 million dollar jail that "comfortably holds 500". Build it to hold long term inmates and free up space at current jail. This city waste millions and nonsense a 23 million dollar bond makes sense. I beg David James, Angela Leet, NEWS MEDIA to survey 15 comparable jails/cities to Louisville and see if their jail takes 1 prisoner at a time and daily has 10-25 waiting to be booked and taking arresting officers off the streets waiting in jails for hours.. BEGGING HERE!!!
