The DEA, like LMPD, is still mostly run by Obama people who think drug abuse is just public health problem and that prescriptions are a greater evil than cartel-imported heroin they've shown very little competence at interdicting anyhow. It takes the heat off when you can point fingers at someone or something else like overprescribed or stolen pills, as seen at LMPD with Louisville's homicides.

Heroin and synthetic opioids overdose deaths have been surging each year for the last several years, while pill overdoses leveled off a long time ago. Cocaine is also making a comeback. None of that can be blamed on legal pharmacies or corrupt doctors. It's the role of police to lock up as many drug dealers as possible and the prosecutors' jobs to put them away for as many years as possible. That's clearly not happening and people are dying more and more each year as a result.
