Police say passerby may have saved life of LMPD officer attacked by homeless man

Jerry Abramson was no different than Fischer. In fact he was probably worse in some ways. The difference was that the Chiefs and district captains didn't let him micromanage the daily routines of police on the street. Not even Hamilton would have let the department be run from the Mayor's office like this. Maybe because he knew that if he tried, he couldn't do anything but replace one Captain with another. He didn't have a stable of political @sskisser Lt's to choose to elevate to a political rank like today. The merger of politics and policing has made this department into what it is.
