All I'm saying is the guy should get a fair evaluation of his application. Let the paperwork progress through the regular channels and be quiet about it. In the end, the chief can accept or reject it. It's not a "fair" evaluation when the chief grandstands and comes out very publicly to state what he said. The only reason it was done that way was to appease a certain segment of the population and everybody with half a brain knows it.
