Here's some quantitative proof that the administration lied to the Metro Council about not needing more officers. If they didn't need any more officers, then LMPD wouldn't need this much overtime. One full time officer would work 2080 hours in a year and about 173.3 hours per month on average, leaving out vacation days and sick days. 608,717 overtime hours divided by 2080 equals 292.65, or the equivalent hours that 293 additional officers would have to work if there was no overtime.
