The TV news people used to get their info from the police scanner. Today its obvious from their very uninformative news reports about crimes that they don't do that anymore. They should know that it's easier to get people to confirm or deny what you already know than get them to tell the story.

There are several sites that let you stream LMPD police radio to your PC or phone so they have no excuse. If they were smart they'd be recording it 24/7 and play it back to get the info they need. There's a law written in the 1940s against having a police scanner radio in a vehicle (KRS 432.570) but it doesn't apply to people streaming a scanner feed from the internet on their phone.
