Then why are you even required to list prior employment and personal references on a job application? Your statement has no merit.

That's only true when there isn't negligence involved. If the department was aware of felony allegations, failed to properly investigate their full extent after Betts resigned and then provided a misleading description about why he left, then Metro is fully liable for anything done by that officer. In court they would pin the blame on 1 or the other or both. Keeping Audubon Park in the dark would have let them off the hook.

Apart from the legal matter, a police chief who cares so little about the safety of the community as to do the things alleged above should be fired and be decertified by KLEC for a lack of integrity. I look forward to hearing the conclusion of the investigations.
