LMPD chief defends changes to department, says he asked mayor for more officers

They should send them all to Richmond instead like they used to. Richmond isn't the cakewalk it used to be and is more than adequate to train a recruit. They should have DOCJT take over inservices too. The only thing LMPD training should do is teach SOP and procedures. If you let them do the training, the state steps in with expert witnesses to help dispute vicarious liability claims. The dept isn't left to swing in the wind on their own when someone doesn't follow their training or claims they weren't trained properly. They would need 2 people full time in training at most if they let DOCJT do what taxpayers already pay them to do
