All the departments requiring laterals re-do a bootcamp style academy are having recruiting problems. The state got rid of the 20 year pension, pay raises have been s--t for the last 10 years, every use of force is labeled as a civil rights violation, thugs have become more violent against police, departments are too bureaucratic, and police are being encouraged to lay low to avoid controversy. Not many people see this as a career. You get people coming out of the military for a few years and people ****** desperate to get out of a bad job situation somewhere else. That's it.
All of these problems will have to be addressed or departments can continue to watch their own decline. They can start by training telling the chiefs office they don't actually need a certified peace officer to go through another recruit class. They should only get in-service classes on LMPD-specific policies after they're sworn in. New recruit classes should be reduced to no more than 13 weeks followed by 13 weeks of PTO so they can get on the street in 6 months.

Oh by the way, KSP gets much better quality applicants than LMPD. They pay more, still have prestige among the people they serve, and don't have to deal with thug-hugger judges as often. Your inbred slur shows you to be the kind of bigot who shouldn't be sworn in as police anywhere.
