Someone charging an officer like that should be assumed to have lethal intent. The officer could have stepped away from the suspect, pulled his gun, and started shooting rather than allow himself to get tackled by 2 guys. Maybe some liberal prosecutor would have tried to make a case against the officer, but it would never get past the jury. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
