LMPD officer injured, suspect dead after shooting

There are certainly minimum standards that must be applied regardless of salary. If people don't meet those standards, then they should be fired. The problem for Metro is they always like to go cheap on the front end, and pay for it on the back end. Paying officers much less than elsewhere SEEMS to save money, but not after you factor in lawsuit payouts, the human and economic costs of crime not prevented because someone was playing Hill Racer, and paying to train people who quickly leave the department. Command, the Mayor and some on the metro council simply lack the ability to think of the big picture or the long-term. Blaming the officers is a deflection tactic used by higher-ups failing to do their jobs the right way.
