Beyond that, what about expanding on the shifts? I'm not saying that take-home cars aren't a benefit or that it doesn't provide a sense of there being more cops on the street, but seriously, if it's not something really serious, how likely are you to use your police authorities when you're off the clock? Why not do some extra hiring and reassigning to put more people to work? Not just patrol, but in other areas, too. Have more marked *and* unmarked units on the street at any given time, because
