Louisville Police Adopt Seattle Safe Harbor Initiative For LGBTQ...

"The idea is simple: If a person is a victim of an anti-LGBTQ crime they can go to a local Starbucks, alert the staff of the situation and then await for police to respond accordingly, said LMPD Chief Steve Conrad. "This is the type of thing that makes Louisville great and makes Louisville inclusive," he said. "These are the types of programs that make our Commonwealth great."

Breaking news: You can walk into any business in Louisville and report ANY kind of crime and they will actually call the police! It's amazing! The Chief should hold press conferences at every business in Louisville and give them stickers to let people know.

LMPD IS DOOMED.... POOR LEADERSHIP AND SAD MAYOR.... LOUISVILLE NEEDS A REPUBLICAN MAYOR

What a joke : GAYS NEED A SAFE PLACE

December 2nd, 2016 @ 7:01PM (7 years ago)

What a joke like it was said earlier anyone can call and get help if they feel threaten. Why does this City cater to every group that wants special treatment?? The Mayor and Chief both need to really think about the moves they are making this city is failing at a break neck speed. Police cant police criminals are doing anything they want with no recourse. All I can do is laugh and shake my head in disbelieve AND NEVER GO TO THE CITY FOR ANYTHING.

The violence isn't just about some angry unemployed youth or rap music or not enough community love-in festivals. Two opposing drug cartels are here and their gang affiliates are apparently fighting over turf. WDRB reported on this months ago but nobody in charge at LMPD pays much attention, because it contradicts their tired old political narratives.

Arresting the people in charge of gangs and the local cartel people requires a degree of controlled chaos or "Shaking the tree." Chaos can help solve complex problems. A fruit tree presents a problem for the hungry person on the ground: how do you find and gather the ripe fruit? It would take a lot of work to climb the tree and inspect each fruit individually. The easier alternative is to shake the tree and watch the ripe fruit to fall to the ground.

Think of the unshaken apple tree as being in a state of relative stability. The absence of strong, abrupt forces allows the tree to grow heavy fruit from delicate twigs. Shaking the tree hard enough can disrupt this, forcing it to drop its heavy fruit to the ground. If disrupting a gang or cartel is your goal, introducing chaos within the target can be an effective way to achieve it.

This means you even arrest for jaywalking if you have to and as often as possible. It may encourage competition, disagreement and miscommunication within the target group. Laying down on the job is exactly what lets the criminal groups grow. Making life a daily hell for all of them and removing them from society is the only real solution to the homicides.

But plain clothes with tan khaki trousers and troll around in unmarked vehicles (most not all)??? Oh I get it tip of the spear...... Division patrol officers don't do any police work .... wrong chief we are the true tip of the spear.

Mayor is little pissed because the Courier Journal called him out on his "smoke and mirror" game on all the homicides in the city. If it weren't true he would not have replied with a half a page article in the opinion section of the paper on why he thought they were wrong. Mayor and chief the city is finally getting fed up with your stupidy when it comes to solving crime. I dubbed you and the chief "dumb and dumber" it seems to fit the bill.

Amid Continuing Violence, Metro Council Is Divided Over Police Shakeup

http://wfpl.org/amid-continuing-violence-metro-council-divided-police-shakeup/

The recent reorganization of the Louisville Metro Police Department is causing a chasm between top ranking Democrats on the city council. The opposing views of majority caucus chair Bill Hollander and vice-chair Cheri Bryant Hamilton serve as a salient example of the rift stemming from the controversial police shakeup that disbanded flex platoons to bolster the department's narcotics unit.

Hamilton, who represents District 5 and some of the neighborhoods most affected by gun violence this year, sees flex platoons as a critical element in street-level crime fighting and bemoans their loss.

She talks at length about the plain-clothes flex platoon detectives who, she said, could gather intel more effectively than uniformed officers. Those detectives could then weave the information together across divisional boundaries to get a more robust picture of gang and drug activity, she said. Stripping the streets of those platoons is senseless, she said. Hamilton joined several council members, community members and the police union to openly oppose the changes before they were imposed and she's remained critical as the homicide tally has continued to climb. "Why would you remove those resources," she said in an interview this week.

Hollander, who represents District 9, where the LMPD has recorded a single shooting incident this year, said bluntly that the police reorganization needs more time to bear the promised changes. Hollander echoes Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, who two weeks ago said the reorganization "needs to be given a chance to work.

That notion frustrates Hamilton, however. The city's murder count is at an all time high and a handful of neighborhoods are continuously bedeviled by the bang of gunfire. Hamilton's frustration echoed across across social media this weekend after police reported a series of shootings in and around her district. "There's a war out here on the streets," she wrote on Twitter. "Since flex disbanded no one is getting the street intel." "Changes have to be made and I think they have to start at the top," she said. "How many more have to die." Fischer has stressed he supports Chief Conrad. The hiring and firing of the police chief in Louisville rests solely with Fischer. Conrad currently has no contract with the city. But confidence in Conrad seems to be wavering.

Hamilton said she supports the police union, the head of which recently penned a letter to Fischer censuring Conrad's leadership. "If they don't have the confidence, you know, I don't have the confidence," she said. "The community is not going to take it much longer."

Louisville Metro Establishes New Task Force To Combat Spike In Homicides

Louisville, KY - Louisville Metro Police is teaming with former-Special Forces mercenary Snake Plissken to establish a new task force to address a recent surge in homicides, officials announced on Wednesday. Mr. Plissken is the youngest soldier to be decorated by the President for bravery during Leningrad and Siberia campaigns in World War III. Some time later, he turned to a life of crime due to the perceived betrayal of the United States government leading to the loss of the use of his left eye.

Mr. Plissken will be the leader and only member of a new special unit at LMPD, dubbed Operation Snake or the 10th Eyepatch Division. The Mayor announced that the new unit will allow for more officers to be freed up for higher priority tasks, such as special events details and community relations.

http://www.wave3.com/story/34002786/respect-project-aims-to-bridge-gap-between-police-community

I'm all for things to help bridge the gap, BUT severl different stories from several different members/citizens of of the west end get on the news and says "we need help, we need more police down here". Others say "Police are racial profiling and harrassing us". You cant have it both ways citizens of Louisville. When 3/4 of 112 murders are occurring in mostly african american neighborhoods, the POLICE HAVE TO POLICE.... We are not social workers, we are not ice cream men, we are not peace walkers, we are not psychiatrist or paramedics.. we are POLICE. The to enforce and uphold laws. So police should be allowed to aggressively and lawfully police. When you do that in minority neighborhoods of course the officers will stop mostly minority citizens. Yes even good citizens who are not criminals but have a tail light out etc.... Good citizens may by inconvenienced, but when you're begging for help to stop 112 murders in your neighborhood I would love the police presence and proactive aggressive policing to keep me, my family, my grandchildren Etc. safe. If officers do wrong, then those will be addressed, but Citizens of Louisville, YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS.

I thought Stevie C said that we couldn't police our way out of this problem but he wants more money for increased patrols? Sounds like a man with no plan, maybe when he and the mayor spend evenings watching real housewives they should google "How To Be A Leader".

Heroin Fatalities Surpass Gun Homicides For First Time

Health officials revealed that for the first time ever, there were more deaths related to heroin than gun homicides in 2015, contributing to the first drop in U.S. life expectancy since 1993. Deaths from heroin rose by 2,000 since 2015, marking the first time since the 1990s (when Bill Clinton was President) that heroin deaths surpassed deaths from prescription opioid painkillers. While gun homicides numbered 12,979 in 2015 and heroin abuse claimed a staggering 12,989 lives. Gun homicides outnumbered heroin fatalities by five to one in 2007. Heroin overdoses tripled between 2010 and 2014, according to the 2016 National Drug Threat Assessment (NDTA), released by the DEA Tuesday.

Mexican Illegal Alien Deported Eight Times Charged After Fatal Hit-and-Run

A Mexican illegal alien, who was previously deported from the U.S. eight times and fled the scene of a fatal accident, has been charged with illegal re-entry and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. The Department of Justice released a notice Wednesday for 40-year-old Mexican national and illegal alien Miguel Angel Villasenor-Saucedo: Miguel Angel Villasenor-Saucedo, 40, residing in Louisville, Kentucky, is a citizen of Mexico who on October 22, 2016 was found to be illegally present in the United States after having been deported from the United States on May 13, 2013. This case arose when Villasenor-Saucedo was found to be involved in a fatal hit and run accident that occurred on October 22, 2016 at Outer Loop and Grade Lane in Louisville, Kentucky. Two women were killed during this accident and Villasenor-Saucedo is alleged to be the driver of the truck that caused the deaths of these two women. Villasenor-Saucedo fled the scene and LMPD Officers later obtained a Criminal Complaint from Jefferson County District Court charging Villasenor-Saucedo with Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Hit and Run Accident. A warrant has been issued for Villasenor-Saucedo's arrest.

Soon after the fatal accident, it was learned that Villasenor-Saucedo was a Mexican national illegally present in the United States. Upon learning of Villasenor-Saucedo's illegal immigration status in the United States, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office began investigating Villasenor-Saucedo and found that he had previously been deported from the United States on eight occasions and did not have lawful authority to be present in the United States. If convicted, Villasenor-Saucedo faces up to two years in prison for illegal re-entry.

One witness described the scene: "I just screamed to them to ask them if they were all right, and they said 'no.' Just as soon as I asked them if they were all right, that truck come barreling down through there," and then the women were struck, she said.
