Yes the Chief and Mayor can be responsible... You are a goof if u don't think so.... Hug a thug dont work... but supporting proactive police work and stopping everything that moves... Locking up offenders for everything will bring the homicide rate down.... when police morale is high murders and crime are lower.... morale is at an ALL TIME LOW.

That's not exactly true. If the mayor placed more emphasis on public safety instead of committing resources to bike lanes and planting trees, maybe things would be different. With this mayor and democrats in general, it's a matter of priorities. Unfortunately, bushes and confusing lines in the roadway are at the top of the list and the police are seen as a necessary evil. If recommended police staffing is 1200, why not increase strength to 1300? Why always have the minimum? People say there is no money. If the police were the top priority, the money would be found.
