"Conrad says the man was black. The races of the officers have not been released."

-WHAS is the only local station that saw fit to mention this in thier initial coverage of the shooting.

Facts don't matter....only melanin. Stay classy WHAS.

The pundits and politicians claim they "can't figure out why" crime is surging or just deny that it is, ignoring that they've been early-releasing and probating felons at unprecedented levels. They've also let drugs flow across the border and onto the streets totally unfettered, with few major busts at any level, because it's now been deemed a "public health problem." Police departments are laying down in reaction to anti-police protests and demagoguery by liberal politicians. It takes a village full of village idiots to screw up the village.

"Five years ago there were 210 shootings the entire year; the city surpassed that total by June this year. Add to that a decades-high number of homicides. Louisville Metro Police handled 79 homicide cases last year, up from 56 in 2014. That was an increase of more than 40 percent on the previous year and the highest tally since 1979. Louisville is also on track for another homicide increase this year, with 66 killings so far."

In a study of 56 major cities conducted for the Justice Department, that homicides were up 17 percent on average. Forty of the cities saw homicides increase, and 12 of those cities saw them increase by more than 50 percent. this trend has continued into 2016. In the first half of the year, homicides are up 15 percent over 2015. Non-fatal shootings (up 4 percent) and aggravated assaults (3.4 percent) both jumped in the first half of the year as well. Crime is rising overall, although the increases are spread unevenly across the country. And compared with 2014 lows, some types of violent crimes are not just rising; they are rising at alarming rates. "

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police shot and killed a man wanted for unlawful imprisonment and allegedly assaulting his wife.

The shooting happened Monday near the Woodford-Scott County line.

Arrest warrants were issued for 34-year-old Juan Godines of South Carolina. Troopers tried to stop Godines around 5 p.m., but he drove away.

After a chase, troopers caught up with Godines in the woods. Authorities say he was armed, and they shot him.

Godines died at the scene.

When will they be briefing the public on the progress of all of the task forces or the operation to stop violent crime? I'd be in hiding until retirement too.

Louisville is an International Model City of Compassion 4 years in a row and we're not planning to give up that title anytime soon. At least, not until they find out about our homicide rate.

Last year the Mayor was tooting his own horn at a conference about compassion, when the violent crime rate started going into the stratosphere. His definition of compassion may score political points, but he, Beshear and all of the hug-a-thug judges have some of these victims' blood on their hands. The increase in crime is the natural and predictable result of weak law enforcement and setting felons free much earlier than they should be.

I'd hate to be in Punta Gorda's shoes right now. That officer will likely be charged with manslaughter and the training supervisors may be fired too. Don't ever get this careless.

"A woman was fatally shot on Tuesday night during a joint police-citizen training event in Punta Gorda, Florida. According to the Miami Herald, Mary Knowlton was killed in a “shoot/don’t shoot” scenario when she was struck by a live round. She died shortly after the incident at a nearby hospital. The officer has not been named, but he has been placed on administrative leave. About 34 people witnessed the event."

Parolee shoots 3 people and murders 1 of them in a drug related killing. Judge lets him set bond when he could be getting lethal injection or going to prison for life. A $250,000 bond may matter to some people, but probably not the guy facing the death penalty if he's got some drug money he can post. We can be thanksful that he wasn't a high level dealer with that kind of money, because guys that desperate will often not hesitate a second to shoot a cop trying to bring them back in.

Lots to outrage about police shooting a guy charging them with a knife, very little to say about the 68 people murdered by criminals. The term "leaders" isn't what I'd use to describe them.

"Build it and they will come" doesn't work in a combat zone. Nobody's ever going to put jobs or businesses in an unsafe area like the west end. Mayor Fischer and Chief Conrad's Weak policing strategy once again flunks the test when reality intervenes.

"The developer of the West Louisville FoodPort abruptly canceled the $35 million project Wednesday, shelving the celebrated local food project that has been a cornerstone of Mayor Greg Fischer’s redevelopment strategy in the West End. Two years in the making, the project’s financial plan fell apart upon the withdrawal earlier this month of a crucial financial anchor, the $23 million indoor vertical farm proposed for the 24-acre complex at 30th Street and Muhammad Ali Boulevard. The city recently proposed using a $7 million federal loan from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the project. As it became clear the balance sheet, without major tenants, could not guarantee loan repayments, Reily informed Mayor Fischer Wednesday afternoon the project was kaput. With $2.7 million already spent by Seed Capital, there was no clear path forward and "the clock ticking" on a Sept. 1 deadline for the city to apply for the federal loan, Fischer said."

http://www.wlky.com/news/lmpd-raises-awareness-of-gangrelated-activity/41248470

How many decades has the department downplayed the existence of gangs? We all remember how the Chief criticized another agency for publicly acknowledging the role of gangs in the riots a few years ago. He has a problem saying with the words "gang" and "riot" like Obama has with saying "islamic terrorism" and "riot"

You can't police without knowing a little about who the criminals are. You won't get that from just charging for possession of guns or narcotics without working your way up the gang hierarchy to get the bigger fish or letting prosecutors plea down charges without getting any cooperation. You can't get good Detectives to do that kind of work by taking people ****** just tired of wearing a uniform and have inside connections either.

It doesn't take a big department to make a dent in the drug trade. It just takes hard work, initiative and some supportive leadership.

This should be added to the firearms simulator scenarios.

An Indianapolis police officer mistakenly shot and badly wounded an armed homeowner who was trying to protect his wife during an attempted robbery early Tuesday, authorities said. The shooting happened at around 4:30 a.m. after police were called about the robbery in a subdivision on the city's far east side. Assistant Chief Randal Taylor said a woman was confronted in her driveway by a young man who pointed a gun at her head and demanded her car keys. She threw the keys at the gunman, ran into the house and her husband came outside with a gun at around the time officers were arriving, Taylor said. "The vehicle that was the target of the carjacking and robbery was still in the driveway," Taylor said. "Officers weren't initially sure if the suspect was still with the vehicle. The husband was out with the weapon, and unfortunately the husband was shot by one of our officers." Taylor said the homeowner was in serious but stable condition at a hospital with an abdominal wound. The gunman who tried to steal the car, described as in his late teens, fled from the scene and was being sought.
