No, I cannot because I was not there. That's a question that you should not be asking because obviously, you weren't there either. They made a decision, followed through with it and with a tremendous amount of effort and dedication, the team came through and brought it to a successful resolution. Great job to everyone that was there.

Whatever

Maybe if you were there you would know why. Maybe you should shut your dumpster and not Monday morning quarterback something you know nothing about. Maybe and probably you are not a retired law enforcement officer or you would have the respect not to question good police work. If you were law enforcement you must have been a classic piece of ****. Maybe they were not in a position to really have a chance to return fire. Maybe they couldn't because of innocent civilians in the background. Or how about this, Maybe all of the above and the fact that they used critical incident judgment, courage to chase a suspect after he fled like a coward into a dark wooded area and acted like the professionals they are. What a turd you are.

There's too much paperwork to shoot. They should have called 10-8 from their car once they guy started running. He was obviously a loyal Democrat too.

Don't know, wasn't there...but I can guess. Perhaps the Perp initially began running and then fired, by the time the officers ducked for cover and drew their weapons they didn't have a clear shot. A bad guy has the luxury of firing aimlessly without regard in a suppressive manner...the officers can't. The officers weren't going to fire into the darkness! Are you even an officer?

The law can be viewed as being very restrictive on when you can shoot a suspect, if you assume they are done shooting, and don't regarding their running off as a tactical retreat to another position to continue shooting at officers. Instead of fleeing into the woods, he could have been retreating to a better firing position, where he could wait to cut down anyone who approached in the dark. Officers have been scared by lawyers, protestors, command staff, training staff, politicians, and all of the year-long investigations by numerous agencies of officers who simply did their jobs and defended their lives. Liberal politicians seem much less concerned about officers being shot than their normally loyal voting bloc protesting against them. LMPD is just an extension of the Mayor's office anymore.
