Pros of Patrol
Even though I did my last 13 years in CIS/Major Crimes, I agree! There's a lot of good opportunities in patrol work. It can be whatever you want to make it.
But probably the biggest advantage is the fact that when you go off-duty, you're truly off. (Except for the typical off-duty traffic stops, motorist assists, etc...)
Even though I enjoyed my assignment, the caseload piled on my desk was always in the back of my mind, even when off. Not to mention the callouts!
Regardless of what some would like for everyone to believe, patrol is truly the backbone of the entire department, and I never forgot that.
So even though I'm now retired, I still appreciate all the brothers and sisters out riding the beat! Thank you!!
