The stated reason is they had their budget cut and can't afford to do it, although the money isn't coming from them but from seized assets. They must not realize that local police will choose to not support federal cases as a result of this, and will begin doing their own cases under state law not involving the federal agencies. What a great way to make law enforcement even less effective and local agencies uncooperative. It's idiocy that will hopefully be reversed when Obama's activism clown posse leaves Washington.
