Once Aubrey retires and some fresh blood gets in the Sheriffs office, they should merge the Sheriffs office into LMPD and make the elected Sheriff the Chief. That wouldn't get politics totally out of the department, but Sheriffs around the country are able to insulate their people from dirty big city politics. Metro Government has proven itself incapable of running the police department in a competent manner.
