I don't know where you got your facts but here (respectfully) are the "real" facts: As a retired KSP trooper I can tell you that in 2003 we had a few short of 1200 sworn troopers, which is the authorized number. Presently, with the last class graduating last week the number stands at 880 commissioned. Of those, approximately 250 are "plain clothes", the exact total number of commissioned officers the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations presently has. And you must remember, unlike the LMPD, uniformed KSP Troopers investigate the majority of crimes in there post areas from initiation to the prosecution and very seldom call for detectives to take over their cases!
