It was beyond the FOP's control. There was no breach of the current collective bargaining agreement, it wasn't a contractual issue to begin with. Also, most of the dayshift and latewatch platoons already worked 8 hour shifts. Not everybody wanted a 12 hour shift.

Are you serious?? We could have been on 8 hour days all along. In fact, the Chief could have just made the change with no mention of 12 hour days. In fact again, we can't even go to 12 hour days unless WE want to. It's not the Depts decision. The FOP got the Dept to agree to allow us to vote if we wanted 8 hour days or 12 hour days. **** the FOP?? You're an idiot.
