Some LMPD officers upset over schedule changes

I hope you guys understand that there is no way this dept will be going to 12hr days. Changing the legislation for our dept alone is not going to happen. It's crazy to think people actually believe this is a possiblity.

Do you realize how many police departments in the state of Kentucky are currently on 12hr days? It's a huge number. Ok these departments all compensate their officers for the week that they work over with either COMP time of some type of straight up over time. Call around and ask, they all do because it's required by the state labor law.

That being said, it would be a nightmare for the state law makers to change the wording of the law for one particular department. They wouldn't touch that with a 10' pole. It would cause a huge problem for 100's of smallers depts state wide.

Whats troubling is, that the FOP has been made aware of this as well as downtown, but they chose to give "false hope" to the majority seeking the 12hr option. They haven't told the truth because they know that it will kill morale even more which will cause even more retirements.

If you don't believe me look into yourself.

"Based on the study, this reorganization will result in more officers on the street which is good for the community and good for our officers."

Truth in this statement: The department is understaffed. Eliminating the overlap in the late evening and early morning will reduce the number of officers needed in those hours.

Falsehood in this statement: Saying its good for the community and officers is untrue. The department will be taking police off of the street because the city doesn't want to hire more. This will put officers and the public at greater risk. The Mayor and the Chief will not hire enough officers to keep Louisville as safe as it used to be.

Off the subject, but I've noticed that the pro-active officers are the ones ending up in the news lately...the more you can avoid court the better. Plus, nobody really cares anymore, and the anti-police sentiment is ridiculous!

8's start in Sept....I noticed a detail in Sept. So is that canceled. The independent survey addressed the shift Change and details. So if we are changing shifts we should also stop the details or did I read the survey wrong?

I've heard several officers recently tell the dispatcher to hold them 10-7 uploading video when the dispatcher try's to give them a run. Seriously?! You're only screwing fellow officers, the brass don't care. Drop your camera off at the end of shift...pick it up at the beginning of shift, not that hard! If you work off duty drop it off at the different locations available...You should not be screwing your buddy on runs, because you worked off duty!!!

You wanna screw me on runs? Either figure out when to download your video when it's not screwing me or I'll take you down to the river and butt rap you. Those gun belts aren't that hard to get off. I've been doing it for years boy so try me! I'll be "downloading" my load up your little white @$$

Well, just finished a mid-watch shift. I figure I will knock back a few...I need to get used to it so I'll be ready for the 6-2. I need to find a side girlfriend, since my wife will probably leave me, since I'll never be there. I hear strippers keep my hours; sounds like a good choice!
