He's right, you will still just work 80 hours in the 2 week pay period, and will be paid the same. A simple formula can be used to make the drop in pay equivalent to the overtime. So, there wouldn't actually be a pay cut. We would have to vote for this, but it may be easier than getting the law changed.

I'm guessing you all are some of these new fangled college educated cops? You might make the same amount with the paycut and additional hours. However you'll be making less when signing up for outside overtime. Please leave the decision making to the guys who have been around longer than 5 minutes. Schedules come and go and once you take a paycut the next guy that tries to re-invent the wheel around here isn't going to give you that money back.
