Fairdale man assaults, takes gun from officer

The name says it all. "Flex Unit", as in flexible. Flexible hours, flexible tactics, flexible assignments. Years ago when flex platoons got started, they were used at the direction of the district commander to address specific problems in target areas. It could've been anything from uniformed patrol in a neighborhood to setting up a decoy bike at a shopping center or the "VARTA" car at a gas station to hit thieves. Somewhere along the way, they started to focus thier time and efforts on dope. They do a great job working district level narcotics but that wasn't the intent when it all started.
