Homicides and violent crime were up long before Mr. Mutchler penned his letter. The FOP is now a convenient scapegoat for the media and an openly hostile and increasingly aggressive segment of the population. The current political climate and the overall safety of the public in general has nothing to do with a letter written by the union president of a town like Louisville. It has been building steadily through a climate of appeasement rather than enforcement and that falls directly at the feet of our elected and appointed metro leadership. Blame whomever you please but the simple fact of the matter is that this cauldron will continue to simmer and will eventually boil over. Fingers will be pointed, excuses will be made and the responsibility will ultimately be deposited at the feet of one side or the other.
