FOP President lashes out at 'sensationalists, liars and race-baiters'

Great letter Dave. Too bad the liberals in the city icluding the mayor can't stand you writing it.

Very unprofessional. The letter is angry for no real reason. Dave, don't be a dummy. You're going to get a lot of support from officers who will fail to see the big picture. They will cheer you on because you are doing their dirty work by sending an angry letter. You should stay neutral on controversial topics. You seem to make an assumption that all the members of the lodge will agree with the sentiment of your letter. I for one am embarrassed and no longer see you as a good fit to be president. Shameful letter!

Don't agree with the letter but gotta admire any man willing to say how he feels and then sign it.

When you write a letter based on emotion you should always pause before you hit send. It's good to vent but sometimes you need to re write the same thing in a different tone. The tone of the letter should be focus on a few simple points.

1. Police are citizens and we dedicated to protecting our city.

2. The courts need to take assaults against police very serious and not amend any charge ever!

3. Point out the poor job that the prosecutors have done overall.

4. Let the mayor and council know that we won't remain silent when stupid liberal programs don't work. You can't hug your way out of violent criminal activity, sometimes you have to take things seriously.

I think Dave has stepped in it and now the story will be about him and the FOP and not the violent criminal who was drunk in the middle of the afternoon assaulting woman, stealing and assaulting the police.

Mr. Mutchler is an idiot who has no business being a police officer and who is apparently too stupid to realize what an embarrassment he is to himself, the Police he claims to represent and the public he so clearly cares little about.

The letter is laughable. It is a perfect example of someone spouting off without any regard for how others will perceive your message. I know...I know...you don't care about that either.

Except for some activists who spend much of their unemployed days posting here, and some political hacks afraid of their own shadow, the community isn't taking offense to this letter. Ask anyone who works for a living and doesn't have several relatives who've been to prison. That's who matters, not the big mouth sh--theads who think it's ok for habitual criminals to beat police in the head with a steel pole. The letter was clearly directed at them and their allies, not the decent citizens of this community. If anyone wearing a badge is posting some of the comments above, I suggest they resign and take jobs working directly for the Mayor. You are better suited to liberal politics than policing.

If the Mayor and Chief are too afraid of losing a few left wing activist votes to call out liars like that guy, then it's a good thing the FOP President isn't. If this guy gave a false statement like that, he'd be charged anywhere else but here in Possibility City. That kind of lie can start a riot and many of these types of people do anything they can to create that kind of situation. Liars must be called out and discredited or else one day they'll get lucky and convince people to burn down the city like has happened elsewhere.

Yes, the FOP President could have quite frankly worded some of his comments a little better, the bottom line is, the basics are extremely true and fact based. He just did not choose Political Correctness which hurts the feelings of those that hate the truth.

Police officers are under attack for simply doing their job of protecting the honest, hardworking, law abiding citizens of our community. Good people that are black, white, Latino, Asian and all races and cultures in between. Let’s not forget that the officers in this community are also citizens/members of this community as well. They are in fact working to make this a safe place for all to live without fear of becoming a victim, or witnessing a crime against another.

That being the case and as this past week has shown a lot of “instigators” have commented that the Officer could have chosen another option instead of deadly force. As is seen in the video, the officer had no chance to take another course of action, nor as is obvious did he expect this individual to choose to attack him as he did. Let one of those “Instigators” stand still and allow someone to bash them over the head with the same type of weapon and see how well they fare after that. The bottom line is the officer was seeking to survive while the individual was seeking to destroy. Not to mention the fact he has assaulted officers before which displays his lack of respect for others. Not to mention the fact he assaulted a woman prior to the officer’s arrival which prompted or required the officer to respond in the first place. Had this individual managed to incapacitate the officer the outcome would have been more tragic than it already is, a dead officer and no doubt some citizens as well. At least that is what this individual was displaying last Saturday. LASTLY, on this topic had this person been a regular citizen that was armed and not an officer, that citizen would have been just a justified to protect their self from this type of assault and nothing would have ever been said. Unfortunately, the “instigators” that are a small majority compared to those of us that are law abiding and hardworking citizens choose to demonize a lawful event where a violent person was ultimately stopped from further wrongdoing. Instead these “Instigators” that claim they are soooooo concerned with the wrongs committed in their community by the police refuse to listen to anything other than what they want to hear or believe. It has been proven that false narratives were spoken in Ferguson. A few tried that this past Saturday at 4th and Oak, only to no doubt look like liars and fools when a video was shown. Why aren’t these “Instigators” that claim they give a damn about their community banding together and marching in the streets of the West End for example protesting the violence in the community? Why aren’t they marching against this violence reminding everyone of the names of those young and older men/women shot and in many cases killed on the streets of our community? The answer, it does not get them the media exposure they so very much desire. Why don’t they do it? They don’t have the courage to do it, nor the moral fortitude to stay the course and do it when it does not get them time in front of a camera. Instead they are followers on a bandwagon that want to attack those men and women who serve our community, the ones that are courageous and need the support.

Unfortunately, the large silent majority of honest hardworking people that live throughout our community are demonized for speaking out against the violence and supporting our law enforcement. Especially, if they choose to do so publicly. Sadly, the large silent majority of honest, hardworking citizens that live in our city’s West End are fearful of reprisals, and demonization for speaking out against the violence, and more so if they express support for law enforcement. Sadly, they live in fear each and every day that other citizens will never know or understand. Sadly, they live in fear that is unfortunate even though they know there is a better way to live. Many older ones remember those days. It is a guaranteed fact that many older black people, men or women that live in our city’s West End would love to be able to sit on their front porch on a nice summer evening without fear, but can’t. That is a shame as they deserve what anyone else that has lived, worked and sacrificed deserve, PEACE. Fortunately, our law enforcement officers that work these areas know that they are there, and work hard because they know that 99.9999% of all people in this city are good people. They just don’t get the time to spend with these citizens young or old, black or white, because they are battling the small minority of people that choose to victimize others for their own selfish good.

The below sentence is from the Mayor’s response to Mutchler’s letter:

“This letter does not reflect the sentiments of me or the vast majority of Louisville's citizens, who know that we are all on the same page, working to build safe and strong communities for all of our families.”

Well…..Mr. Mayor, it appears that you are speaking for a small group of citizens in our community. Or are you just quite simply being politically correct? Or are you not reading most of the comments made on local media websites? It appears that once again 99.99% of our citizens disagree with you as they agree with Mr. Mutchler, even though some of his comments were not politically correct. They are those silent large majorities of taxpaying citizens that understand that they need the police, support the police and will only be truly critical of them when they are wrong and it is obvious that they are. Below are just some comments from just one website. It appears as the Mayor you need to quit being fearful of a few and respect the taxpaying base of people that deserve the same police services as everyone else. Hell, in once comment we have citizens stating that they recognize we don’t have enough officers, and would be willing to pay more taxes for the police. However, in doing so they should get what they pay for and not see these officers shipped elsewhere which is what is going on now. Allowing this Chief to pull officers from other communities to be on a task force that apparently is not having any real effect on crime is wrong. In another post someone makes a good point from what Councilman James said, “If people would listen and not jump to conclusions without factual truths, maybe a letter like this would not have had to been written. Mr. Mayor, have you ever given thought as to why so many senior Officers and people in Leadership have left in the past year? Some with just over twenty years in service, some with 30 years on that would stay a lot longer, to include senior leadership. They are fleeing the weak leadership of this Chief and his staff of self-preservationist Colonels at headquarters. Plain and simple, they are not leaving for any other reason, as this is a profession they know and love, and have loved all their life helping our community. One could say they are weak for not staying the course, however, they see that they are not going to be able to do what is right for our community while this Chief is in office.

The below are comments for media websites once again displaying what many believe in our community.

Mayor Greg Fischer, and Chief Steve Conrad, both of you are part of the problem why things will NEVER change, YOU CAN NOT REASON WITH CRIMINALS. THATS WHY THEY ARE CRIMINALS.

The only other response other than a gun for the officer would have been a taser and that does not always work. That is not a chance I would take if it were me being attacked. Besides I thought that if you ran from an officer after they have told you to stop, or if you attack them then they are to use deadly force as needed to protect themselves. Perhaps people would rather the officer to have been brain-damaged or killed by that metal pole because that would have been the likely result. And besides he did not have time to consider all of his options in the few seconds he had to act to defend himself. Yet even so, the only option was the use of the gun. Or we could double our police force, pay more taxes to support that and have two officers working together all of the time. I would be willing to pay more taxes.

"The FOP president represents the members of the police department and I think it is important for their voice to be heard, but it is also important for their voice to be heard in a way that people would listen," James said. ........Maybe if people listened in the first place he wouldn't have to be so plain spoken. Good job as far as I'm concerned.

If I was Mutchler, I wouldn't resign. I would stand by what I said in that letter and I wouldn't be afraid to say that. As for these "Faith Leaders", for years people have known their corrupt and have their own personnel agendas. Using different tactics such as race baiting when they feel it’s needed. I find it funny that many of the people they have come to defend are criminals. Stop filling your "flocks" with criminals who are just going to lie to your face and say they’re going to change, then go out and commit a crime. Not everyone can be "saved".

The below is a portion of what Chief Conrad said in his response:

“It is my job to work with the men and women of this department to do all we can to make Louisville a safer community. My most important job is to protect and serve the citizens of Louisville, and I do not believe this serves the interest of the community. To this end, we must always treat everyone with respect and dignity. By doing so, we earn their trust, which is essential to our success in policing this great community. We have seen far too much violence over the past few months! Now is the time for all of us to work together to truly make Louisville the kind of community we all want it to be”

He is continuing to display that he is as soft as a Sno-Cone on a hot summer day. The letter does not serve his interests as it weakens his already sorry ability as a leader in this community and the police department. The violence perpetuated in our community is a direct result of his, and his staff in headquarters failed leadership as they are seekers of only self-preservation and not the safety of the community. His officers are continually trying to work with the community to Stop the Violence. His answer, announce a fantasy based task force and in the process steal officers from other communities in our city and have them work only in a small area of the city. His answer, continue to waste taxpayer money having officers sit at the Big Four bridge on OVERTIME no less to the tune of over 250,000 thousand dollars so far. His comment above only goes to show his lack of support for the very men and women serving our community by saying we must always treat everyone with dignity and respect. Those OFFICERS do that every day. They don’t choose the situation; the criminal element does in this community, and communities everywhere in our country. He shows his lack of support and trust in our citizens by saying that and saying earning their “Trust”. Officers in this city already have the trust of the honest, hardworking, law abiding citizens of our community from the east end to the west end. They see the officers, and call upon them every day to report the bad things they see. Lastly, this Chief once again pointed out his weak leadership this past week when he stated, even though there was point blank video evidence!!!! By saying, even after everyone else saw the same thing, “I have not determined if the Officer’s actions were justified”. What in the hell was he seeing that no one else saw. If the guy was attacking a civilian, even the most moronic attorney downtown would have ruled this a justifiable reaction/shooting. Again, this Chief displayed his true lack of leadership and his disdain for the men and women in harm’s way every day. No wonder their morale is in the toilet, and they are afraid to do their jobs. That fear of doing their jobs is perpetuating the violence in our city that is getting worse. Yes, they can say it is the present climate nationally that attributes to this, but never more so than a Chief that is a non-supporter of their duties. These officers would do more police work, work more with the community if they were left alone to do it, and not have social programs pushed on them that they cannot possibly keep up with to do because of a lack of human resources. They are too busy going from run to run to do a lot of pro-active community engagement. But, then again, the city paid $75,000 for a staffing study that was false in everything it represented to our community. Yet this Chief, instead of having the moral courage to speak up will allow it to be the gospel, and once again cost as well as hurt our community in the long run. 13 years ago two police departments merged, this city has grown exponentially, and yet there are less officers on the department now, than back then. What a shame!!!!!

The below is a final comment from a news website from a citizen that is very insightful, and displays that many in our community see the shameful support from a leader that is damaging our community more every day, and demoralizing those that want to do more.

And Conrads letter is correct it’s their job to keep Louisville safe. But he needs to back up his officers a lot more and realize what is going on. And effective leader can balance both the duties of their department and their duties to their men and women.

The police chief and the Mayor need to use whatever legal capabilities that are available to remove Dave Mutchler from the police department. Poor Dave and his followers believe they are more powerful than Metro Government. I predict in about a month Mutchler will be gone. I was in Home Depot today. I stood in line and this white male walked up behind me to pay for his purchase. He looked to be about 40ish. The poor cashier ran out of receipt paper and had to take about a minute to change the paper. OMG!!! you should have seen this white male almost blow a gasket!!! I knew he was going to do that. I try to avoid them at all cost because they are ticking time bombs ready to lash out at anything. I left the line and went back through the store just to avoid his tantrum. Here is my opinion on Dave's Letter: I agree with it 100%...but it didn't need to be written. People that are on our side, are still on our side. People that are against us, are still against us. So why write it? This letter just gives the people Dave describes in his letter to turn his words around, and give them something to protest about. They didn't have much to protest about once the video of the recent shooting shows the officer acted within reason, and most Louisvillians agree with it. There was no reason for the letter. Also, I don't need somebody writing a letter representing me, unless I ask him to.

Public Health should have parked their syringe exchange truck next to the roadblocks that the full time protestors had downtown today. Louisville is a great place to shoot up, not work and delay traffic. I hope they didn't stay too long at the roadblock and miss the climate change protest later that day. If the Chief finds it diffcult to clear that rabble from streets and shopping areas, then you will see the people who actually pay taxes avoiding downtown. You are already losing 1 major employer in the near future and can't afford to lose another. Waiter jobs won't support the city.

Sure, the protesters were allowed to block the street while the command staff hid in headquarters peeking out thru the blinds. When a Lt (who was only ordered to be in the area) talked to the protesters about blocking the street he was called by phone by one of the minions and ordered to stand down. His major (waste of a promotion) then called him and berated him about giving him an order not to engage (never happened). She is now going to write him up for insubordination. Maybe if the front office had some balls they would have went out and talked to the protesters to show them they do not run the city. They even kept the SRT team in hiding so they would not upset anyone while leaving the streets in most divisions understaffed. This department is in for a long summer when there is no support from the command staff. The letters that the chief and the mayor send out saying they have our back is only smoke and mirrors. If you don't believe it just remember they left 3 boys in blue our to deal with all the protesters while they hid in their offices.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have arrested a Shepherdsville man officials say fired a gun during an attempted robbery at a home.

Marcus Thornsbury, 20, was arrested after police say he and a co-defendant entered the garage of a home while armed with handguns, around 11:30 p.m. on June 5. Authorities say the home was located in the 11000 block of Maple Way, near Preston Highway.

Police say Thornsbury and the co-defendant "ordered everyone to the ground." Investigators say Thornsbury then struck the victim, who is a juvenile, in the head with a gun. Official records say the victim managed to get away and ran to the back door of the home.

Authorities say Thornsbury and the victim struggled at the back door of the residence.

Officials say the altercation disturbed the victim's father who was inside the home lying on a couch. According to police, the victim's father then went to the back door.

Police say Thornsbury then ordered the victim's father to get on the ground. Authorities say Thornsbury was pointing a weapon at the face of the victim's father.

Officials say the victim's father ran and retrieved a gun from a bedroom. Police say the man then returned to the living room and exchanged gunfire with Thornsbury. The official police report says Thornsbury was then hit in the back.

Police say the first victim's father tried to hold Thornsbury at the location, but he was able to get up and flee the scene before police arrived. Authorities say the second suspect also fled from the scene.

Thornsbury is charged with assault, robbery and wanton endangerment.

It looks like somebody will be spending his vacation in Gatlinburg this year...

"The deadly stretch pushed the city's homicide count well above the rate from a year ago, and city officials continued to search for answers about how to stop the violence.

The last of the three homicides happened at an apartment complex in the Iroquois neighborhood around 10 p.m. Sunday. The Jefferson County Coroner's office said the victim was Michael Thomas Jr., whom friends said was a rapper who went by Louis Keyz.

Seven people were shot in four shootings on the Fourth of July. Metro Police made an arrest in one of the incidents after a man called 911 to report himself.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer called it a "rough weekend."

"As long as there's drug deals going down and there's a lot of illegal guns on the street, it's really hard to stop," Fischer said Monday. "But we're going to keep doing what we're working on."

Four women, ranging in age from 31 to 40, were shot Saturday evening in the 2500 block of West Broadway, near Legends Nightclub. Their injuries were not life-threatening, and police had no suspect information to release.

There have been 44 homicides in Louisville so far in 2015, of which 40 of them are so-called "criminal homicides" and the rest have been ruled justified. There had been 28 criminal homicides this time last year"

These officers are very lucky to be alive and are in obvious need of retraining if this is true. When a man points a rifle at you, there is only 1 valid response and its not asking him to kindly lower his weapon.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is in serious trouble after he allegedly threatened to murder several police officers conducting surveillance in the city's west end.

According to an arrest report, it happened around 10 o'clock Sunday night near 20th and Bank Street. That's when police say 45-year-old Mario Anderson approached a police vehicle and began screaming at officers, stating: "You need to get out of here! I'm going to kill you!"

Police say Anderson ran toward the back of 2007 Bank Street and returned carrying a loaded AR-15, "aggressively walking toward officers with clear marked police tactical vests pointing the assault rifle directly at officers."

Anderson was ordered to drop the weapon and was taken into custody without further incident.

Police say Anderson told officers he saw them from a second story window inside a residence at 2007 Bank Street. Officers followed the path Anderson took to the residence and found a piece of brown paper "containing a large amount of crystal meth." Officers got a warrant to search the residence and found two handguns, a large amount of marijuana packaged for sale, cash, body armor, surveillance equipment and a digital scale.

Anderson was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted murder of a police officer, three counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Wave reporter asked the Mayor on tv if the department needed new leadership. Ruh roh, Shaggy! Apparently appeasing liberal activists isn't all there is to this job.

LOUISVILLE, KY -- Neighbors in southwest Louisville are standing up to an epidemic they claim has taken over their community.

The public push comes nearly two weeks after a Valley Station woman was found murdered. Meagan Hassler's family claimed her death was due to drugs.

The murder of Jack Hassler's daughter pushed him to reach further to make a change.

"I've been in this neighborhood off and on my whole life and I've watched it change," said Jack Hassler. "It has got so bad."

The organizer's first push is to swarm neighborhoods in southwest Louisville, partnering with a group that marches every Thursday in different neighborhoods, Walking 4 Wellness: Stop Heroin. Their goal is to make a presence in their community.

The group, Southwest Rally Against Heroin, is bolstered by a recent donation and has hopes that this will change lives.

Their second initiative is a hot line, created in his Meagan Hassler's memory. This hot line will allow neighbors to dial in anonymously with concerns in their neighborhood.

Robert Flatt, another father affected by the drug, said his daughter started experimenting with heroin one year ago.

"She wasn't raised this way," said Flatt. "We had her in treatment programs and three days ago we found her not breathing. It has to stop. It is destroying families."

Which is why both of dads are pushing for all of southwest Louisville to unite.

"You have to make a stand," said Jack Hassler. "You have to admit that you're tired of this being in your streets. You have to admit that you're tired of this drug taking your kids away. If not, this is never going to stop."

This is the perfect type of crime to catch with hidden cameras and drones having night vision. Most of the park vandalism occurs when there isn't anybody around. If they get caught, it should be a lifetime ban from public housing and section 8 in Louisville once they turn 18. They might even have to get a job.
