I'm guessing somebody never played rock paper scissors, you see mace does not beat metal pole. Gun however does beat metal pole. No one in this line of work leaves for the day thinking it would be great to kill someone today. I have been there and it sucks but I also have a family at home that expects me to come back. I have an extended family out there that's needs my protection.
