After spending so much time and effort with their K9 partners, most true K9 handlers have learned to sniff their own balls. It's actually a source of pride and the mark of a true K9 handler. If you aren't able to sniff your own balls, you are looked at with derision as having not yet earned the title of K9 Handler and referred to as simply "a policeman with a dog".
