School are worthy of patrolling. If some young gangsta or maniac decides to shoot people there should be an officer around to send them straight to hell. Thats a more worthy job for police than dozens of deskbound positions in the department that should be civilian positions, like everyone in administrative services, media and PR, and all the extra LT's. This is not a proactive department, so it can at least offer protection for high risk populations like schools, and not just serve as report writers
