Violent crime jumps 10% in Louisville in 2014

Say it ain't so.

Violent crime is down in cities with aggressive and proactive policing in their problem areas. Its up where departments are mostly reactive. This administration's approach had not worked because it has.not kept up with the changes in the sources of violent crime. Louisville is becoming more like the other cities in the region. Gangs and even drug cartel members have been arrested here in the last few years. The reshuffling may send a message to the leadership below the Chief, but 11 years of the reactive policing has made it deeply ingrained in the department. What they really need is to bring in some outside trainers having recent experience in an effective policing approach in another city, not another uniformed politician or protege of the ex-Chief. The low morale also has made some officers unwilling to do anything but the absolute minimum required to get paid and they even brag about it on this website.

So we promote a colonel with no college degree or SPI? That makes sense, almost as mich as andrea b-rown.. we are the laughing stock of policing, wah wah wah
