Possibly because the leader is getting paid $175,000 per year to tell angry people who hate police whatever is necessary to keep them from protesting in front of City Hall and ruining the next election for them. That's $50,000 more than highest paid person in the Mayor's office. The officers will just have to get over it if their reputations are tarnished by the media as a result.
