I’m a cop. If you don’t want to get hurt, don’t challenge me.

It’s not the police, but the people they stop, who can prevent a detention from turning into a tragedy.

Attica has returned to Louisville from her trip to Ferguson and one of the first comments she made was that Louisville is one gun shot away from being just like Ferguson. As an elected and supposedly educated individual, that was an irresponsible comment to make. She may have an opinion about our police department, great, she is entitled to, be not to make an erroneous, potentially inflammatory comment like that. Why not address, as rev. Cosby did so well, the black on black crime that runs rampent in her district? Completely self serving, fan the flames of discontent. Would be just as easy for us, and just as erroneous, to claim that all council members skim funds from their disctrict, illegally hire and pay their family members and use their discretionary funds as their personal piggy bank. See what I just did their Attica? Make a difference in your elected position, don't create a problem for this community that doesn't exist to fulfill your self-serving agenda. From a voter that pays your salary.

I'm not a lawyer, but know they have to prove that in his state of mind he had a bad purpose and did it willfully. Negligence and recklessness doesn't count. If he had just been severely beaten and could claim to be protecting himself while under severe physical mental and physical duress, then it will be very difficult to prove in front of a federal jury. If he shot at him as he was falling to the ground, then the prosecution would have to prove that in his state of mind, he intentionally murdered an unarmed, defenseless man and knew he was doing it. It's a high bar to overcome during a trial but they could still try to indict him. I think it will end up being a state case if anything.

Only the body cameras can save the department and this country. We must have 360 degree view cameras on everyone, preferably with 3-D too, available for streaming by any member of the public through a Netflix or Hulu subscription. Every officer can have their own reality TV show since there are over 1300 reality TV channels on cable now.

Are there bad cops within LMPD?
