Saying it would hurt morale isnt being entitled. It would drive many people to other assignments. Claiming it will help the staff shortfall is a farce. The overlap with other shifts is typically when things are busiest and overlap is needed. It will just aggravate delays in response times and deprive oncoming shifts of backup officers. There are no viable shortcuts or easy answers that will actually work when it comes to understaffing patrol.
