Police tactical teams are not the military. The rules of engagement are not the same. Collateral damage and fratricide were always major problems in both Afghanistan and Iraq, but usually nobody went to jail for it because it was considered normal. In a war there is a lot less importance placed on perfection. If some civilians get killed in your raid then you just move on to the next one and not get suspended until the investigation is completed in several months. There are all kinds of Youtube videos showing exactly what I'm talking about if you need proof, although no real combat vet would question that. Unless you've been given permission to bring your old platoon, Apache and F-16 air support, and loadout on your next warrant service, then you should just fill out that SWAT matrix.
