Jefferson County sheriff's deputies in trouble after trying to serve warrant

Carjacking is its own federal crime, 10 USC 2119. The feds have also charged for home invasion using the law against robbery affecting interstate commerce, 18 USC 1951. Usually those aren't run of the mill examples though. In either case the robber can be shot dead by e owner with no duty to retreat, so it is different under state law in that way.
