City to hire expert to determine appropriate size of police force

Ignorant! Pure ignorance.

For starters, I hate when people always use the take-home car program as some sort of leverage. Like we should all jump for joy and zip our lips just to have one. Give me a break!!! Yes, I am in the program, but my car is a basket case. It has damaged my driveway with oil spots. It is borderline unsafe to drive yet I'm supposed to be "just thankful"? Secondly, where do you get the City is "giving something" away with a 12-hour shift? The City doesn't care about the schedules of sworn personnel. The Mayor has allowed the Chief to manage LMPD. As long as there is adequate coverage, the City is not concerned about officer shifts. The thought of riding two-man cars is something I hope never happens.

Having a 2 man car can save you money in the long run when the bad guy doesn't get a chance to shoot you and your family isn't left to fend for themselves. The only people who think like that are greedy, stupid, working in a office now, or should have a "Forever in the White Zone" bumper sticker. Officer safety trumps a needless handout like a crappy marked take home that would cost $3000 at a used car lot. When I see people letting their kids sit in the same back seat that lice carrying or hep C positive prisoners sat in the week before, I want to cite them for child abuse.

12 hour shifts will be a disaster. Officer fatigue will cause more accidents and officers will find themselves more grouchy from fatigue which will increase courtesy complaints. Not to mention, nobody should be upset when an officer calls out on a "10-5" if he is expected to pull a 12. The whole plan was not well thought out.
