If the city abdicates its responsibility to protect the public, then others will step in to fill the obvious void. What better way to say LMPD should be merged into the Sheriffs office than for an ineffective administration to take it laying down. In the meantime you can expect fewer people to go down there and the downtown businesses to suffer for it. There are dozens of cities that have gone down that road and are not ever coming back.
