Teacher's fatal DUI case dismissed after LMPD officer's indictment

That really s.u.x. I have worked with Thurman. He has always done an excellent job on collisions and DUI's. Great job as a division and dept. traffic officer. I can't judge him on what he is charged with - I don't have all the facts and am not involved. I hate that these cases were catch 22'd. I hate it for the victim's family. Unfortunately attorneys (being what they are) will never separate his ability and sharpness from his alleged screw up.

So sick of all the drama...can't wait til the day I can walk away from it ALL!!!!

If the citizens of Louisville actually knew how many officers are patrolling a specific division during one shift I believe they would be surprised. There should now be overtime details several nights a week if they truly want to help keep this from happening again. The 1st division can't baby sit the great lawn and big 4 bridge every night on mid watch. They have other priorities and other police matters that need to be dealt with. A 4-5 officer detail with a Sgt would be a start to show a presence. But will the city open the check book and make it happen? I doubt it.

Cities need to be held to the standards that colleges are, in that, they must report all incidents and if they don't they are held liable. If you the mayor and chief tell you downtown is safe and another mob attacks you then they are liable.......stop lying! Downtown Louisville is not safe but just wait the Dems will start crying that this mob mentality is because they are no making $10.10 an hour!

Wow. Our libtard city government has the Chief of Police come out and make excuses about the violence at waterfront park. They were there to hold a vigil for a juvenile delinquent who unfortunately lost his life. So his vigil of friends decide to commit atleast 17 acts of violence to help themselves feel better. Specifically make a point of attacking white people. The young person that they so longed to have back with them was killed by an African-American who may have been defending himself, since he appeared to have a black eye in his booking photo. If I could afford to move out of this cesspool of stupidity I would. Nothing but an Ostrich mentality. The four murders in Libya was about a random act in response to a movie. Right...............

So. No true bill on the guy who stabbed the teenager. He was defending himself. I guess he will be released soon. So, the media should do a FOIA request for any video from the Tarc bus. He appeared to have assaulted in his mug shot. I guess when you are attacked by not one teen, but ten of them or more on a Tarc bus, you have the right to defend yourself. But I am guessing when this hits the news, this thuggish teens friends will use this as a reason to go and attack other, I mean white people again. Wonder how the Mayor and Chief will try to spin that.

The whole situation is PATHETIC. What our Mayor, Chief, other city leaders and so called people of God are spewing is weak and sorry excuses for leadership.

This is a problem with young people in this community." What the…..Reynolds –smells like somewhat fishy. Yes these gangsters/young people are out of control, and so are their parents obviously. Unfortunately, most of the victims this past Saturday and in incidents past are not African American. Giving many in this community reason to question the racial undertones . Would be interesting to see a list of victims for past year or two or see what the reports say.

This group did not show up to remember their friend, that was held on Friday by the family. They showed up like they have in weeks, years past doing what they have done in the past. Not all are bad people, but many obviously are falling into this activity. Why didn’t they do this in their own neighborhood instead of downtown? Guessing that they partly know a lot of people in the West End (assumption as to where most are from as they walked westward) are not going to let them run up on them and beat on them.

Our city leaders are embarrassing as they are excusing away this activity that is and should be unacceptable PERIOD. Doubt that very many knew the 14 year old killed on the bus. They just wanted to start attacking people like the youths did on the bus. The parents again are out of control for allowing them to be out as late as they were on a School night, or any other night. NO EXCUSE.

Can’t blame the police when confronted with a Mob like this. They go hands on and do what they have to do to defend themselves and the community would call them the bad guys.

The City Leaders (Mayor, Chief, Reynolds) or any others that have tried to explain this away or excuse it as a bunch of people that are frustrated, wanting jobs or opportunity should be embarrassed and hope they can’t sleep at night knowing the façade they have tried to put up. This isn’t what they were doing this about or for.

Two of the more appalling things are: The video from the bus, shows a gang of youths doing what the ones did downtown this past Friday and Saturday. Yes, the guy was drunk talking smack, but what drunk doesn’t. However, he never once as is obvious attempts to be assaultive towards the youths. In fact it is now known he begged to get off the bus. Get’s a beat down and defended himself. Had that video not been there no telling what would have transpired, as is obvious from the words of the youths that they lied about what happened. The bus driver is despicable for not letting the guy off the bus too.

Second appalling thing is the victims from Saturday, more importantly the lady dragged from her car and beat on, her husband too in front of 5 kids under the ages of 12. Disgusting, and no lies from city leaders or apologies will ever make it right.

The unfortunate outcome will be more tax dollars spent on cameras, police for the park and on overtime, less in other neighborhoods at times because of it as well. Plus people calling for more centers or community buildings because if they build it these youths will come. Which is not the case and they know it.

I don't care for Terry Meiners but have to say he cleaned the Mayor's clock Wednesday afternoon during an on air interview. You can listen to it online at whas11 under podcasts.

How the behavior of a bunch of weekend marauders changes the day to day operations of first class police department is shameful. I don't have the answers and I don't make the salary to justify having the answers, but for all the SOPS, specialty units, research, etc. you'd think LMPD would have been much more operationally prepared to deal with the weekend marauders. The overtime is a start, but it looks like a hastily put together response and not a plan. LMPD dropped the ball on this one. Juveniles changing the course of business is an embarassment!

Simple question for the Chief and Mayor...Why were the police given a directive 3 years ago NOT to use their sirens to disperse large crowds... The hotel guest were complaining of siren noise EVERY WEEKEND....Why because the police have been dealing with massive groups of teens every summer weekend. Paula Bader is 1000000% right. Every cop knows reports are not generated when you disperse large crowds.... a sig act maybe.... but not a report captured in say I-Leads.. Bottom line..every cop who has been on for 1, 5, 10, 15, 20 years know this has been going on... THERE ARE TWO COPS RIDING THE BEAT THAT HAS WATERFRONT PARK, YES ONLY TWOOOOOOOOOOO... The FOP again should be jumping all over this but typical crickets....The council is right We are understaffed....way understaffed....we need 300 plus more officer and we would probably still be understaffed per capita for officers per 1000 citizens....

Who is paying?!?!

You could use a good old fashioned mental evaluation.

She's been an embarrassment to female officers since she was in academy.
