Now that I have your attention, may I ask for a couple minutes of your time. I do not get on this site because I take great pride in my career, even though we do not work for a perfect organization. As I look over my 20 year career w/ the department and consider my retirement I know that there have been problems and issues. After all, we see them almost every day in the news... A-Rod doping, Petino and Petrino having extra-marital affairs, and power-hungry politicians getting exposed by e-mails.

It's easy to forget about the day you were notified that you would be starting the academy or when you pinned on your badge. It's easy to look beyond the lives that you have changed and focus on the negative. Ultimately, it is your career. However, this gossip site is an embarrassment to every law enforcement officer -- when will we have respect for each other and ourselves? When we are standing by a hospital bed of an injured beat partner or over a flag-draped coffin? If you want to fix problems within your organization it will not happen in this chat room, it begins with you.

Everyday you put on a uniform that so few get to wear, you have the opportunity to make a positive influence in the lives of others, especially those who have no power to do anything themselves, and realizing this is the key to a successful career. By successful I am mean you are not continually dwelling on the negative, and you do not despise your co-workers, your department or the community you serve.

This has been happening in four different divisions?
