Louisville police begin tracking problematic officers for prosecutors, defense

Citizens won't help you if they witness a crime. Citizens will speed down the Watterson 20 mph and will call your car # in if they see you driving 1 mph over. Oh but, police are held to a "higher standard". NO!! Everyone should be held to the SAME standard. No excuses.

That's not true at all. People don't like their cars or houses being broken into and they don't like hearing about people being murdered down the street from them. They may not care otherwise but they will start caring if you impress upon them what you're trying to prevent. Having a website or an anonymous phoneline doesn't build rapport. There are too many officers trying to act tough, be intimidating, or avoid the street altogether instead of getting to know the more law abiding public. Arresting the more serious felons is a lot easier when you do that. If promotions were based on past success instead of test scores or politics then there might actually be some people in charge with an idea about how to police.
